Grandma's Heavenly Onions Recipe

Ingredients
<br>- 1 tablespoon butter
<br>- 4 large sweet onions, sliced
<br>- 1/2 pound Swiss cheese, shredded
<br>- 10 slices Italian bread
<br>- 1/4 cup butter, softened
<br>- 1/2 cup milk
<br>- 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
<br>- 3 teaspoons soy sauce
<br>- salt and pepper to taste

<br>step 1: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and saute onions until translucent.  Transfer onions to a 9x12 inch casserole dish and sprinkle cheese over onions.  Spread butter on both sides of the bread, then lay the bread over the cheese.
<br>step 2: In a medium bowl combine milk, soup, soy sauce, salt and pepper.  Mix well and pour over bread.  Cover and refrigerate over night.
<br>step 3: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
<br>step 4: Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes.
