Gumdrop Cookies II Recipe

Ingredients
<br>- 1 cup all-purpose flour
<br>- ½ teaspoon baking powder
<br>- ½ teaspoon salt
<br>- ⅓ cup shortening
<br>- ⅔ cup white sugar
<br>- 1  egg
<br>- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
<br>- 2 tablespoons milk
<br>- ¾ cup gumdrops, chopped
<br>- ½ cup blanched almonds
<br><p></p>Directions
<br>step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).
<br>step 2: Sift and measure flour; resift 3 times with baking powder and salt.
<br>step 3: In a separate bowl, cream shortening; add sugar gradually and continue creaming.  Add well-beaten egg and beat until fluffy.  Stir in vanilla.  Add flour mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.  Add gum drops and mix well.
<br>step 4: Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.  Stick 4 almond halves in top of each cookie.  Bake for about 10 minutes, or until cookies are lightly browned.  Remove immediately to cool.
