Red Hearts Recipe

Ingredients
<br>- 1 cup shortening
<br>- 2 cups white sugar
<br>- 2  eggs
<br>- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
<br>- 1 cup buttermilk
<br>- 2 teaspoons baking soda
<br>- 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
<br>- 3 drops red food coloring

<br>step 1: Mix ingredients in the order given.  Divide dough and add enough red food coloring for desired shades of pink or red.
<br>step 2: Refrigerate dough for 40 to 60 minutes.
<br>step 3: Roll and cut out with heart cutters.  Sprinkle with sugar.  Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 11 minutes.  Do not overbake.
